Second Start Rescue (SSR)

Second Start Rescue (SSR) is a dog rescue organization focused on giving overlooked and at-risk dogs the second chance they deserve. Built on years of hands-on experience, our team has saved thousands of dogs, many from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas, with a focus on those who are critically injured, abandoned, or out of time.

We believe rescue is more than transport and placement. It is about restoration. Every dog we take in is met with compassion, medical care, and a commitment to see them through to a safe, loving home. Whether it is an urgent case or a long-term rehabilitation, we step in where the need is greatest.

Beyond individual rescues, SSR is committed to creating lasting impact through community support, education on responsible ownership, and spay and neuter advocacy. Our goal is not only to save lives today, but to reduce suffering in the future.
