What I Do

I rescue dogs, tell their stories, and work to solve the problems that put them at risk in the first place.

For nearly a decade, I’ve served communities in South Texas through rescue, outreach, and education. Today, I continue that work through Second Start Rescue while developing new initiatives focused on prevention, advocacy, and long-term solutions.

The Vision

I believe rescue is only part of the solution. Lasting change comes from investing in prevention, strengthening communities, and expanding access to affordable spay and neuter.

My vision is simple: fewer homeless dogs, stronger communities, and a future where rescue is needed less because we’ve addressed the problem at its source.

Why This Matters

For nearly a decade, I’ve worked alongside communities in South Texas, where I’ve seen firsthand the devastating impact of dog overpopulation. I’ve met families who wanted to spay and neuter their pets but simply couldn’t afford it, and I’ve worked with local leaders who shared the same vision of expanding access if the resources were available.

I spent three years building toward one goal: launching a large-scale spay and neuter initiative through Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue (SSR). During that time, nearly $450,000 was set aside to make that vision a reality. Before the program could launch, the rescue was unlawfully taken from me, and the funds that had been set aside for this mission were instead used to pay the defendants’ attorney’s fees. Three years of planning came to an abrupt halt on May 13, 2024.

The legal proceedings remain ongoing, and the court continues to trace the missing funds. While I remain hopeful that some of those resources may eventually be recovered, I can no longer put this mission on hold.

After two years, it’s time to rebuild.

The Blue Echo Spay & Neuter Fund is my commitment to finishing what I started. This initiative is dedicated to expanding access to affordable spay and neuter services, strengthening the communities that have welcomed me for years, and helping prevent homelessness before it begins.

Blue Echo isn’t a replacement for what was lost. It’s the continuation of a mission that never ended.

My Friends Stole My Dog Rescue

They took my rescue, my dogs, my records, my future, and the money I’d spent three years saving to launch a community spay and neuter program.

They usurped control of more than $500,000 in donor funds intended for the dogs, bringing years of planning to an abrupt halt.

Money intended to save dogs instead funded years of litigation and attorney’s fees, while the mission it was raised to support was abandoned.

My rescue was incinerated from the inside out by those who had a duty to protect it. In their effort to fund years of litigation, they destroyed it beyond repair.

The consequences reached far beyond me. They were felt by the dogs, the families, and the communities that had come to rely on our work.

The Debt They Left Me Holding

When Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue was unlawfully taken from me, they didn’t just take my life’s work—they left me with more than $100,000 in unpaid corporate debt while taking control of over half a million dollars entrusted to the organization.

For more than two years, I’ve lived with the financial consequences. My credit score dropped more than 200 points, and I no longer qualify for the credit and financing opportunities I once had, creating barriers that continue to affect both my personal and professional life.

After two years, it’s time to put this debt behind me.

Every contribution helps me pay down the remaining rescue debt, restore the financial foundation I spent years building, and focus on the future instead of the past.
